Grand Canyon Sunrise
Check out these phenomenal shots of the Grand Canyon from the LA Times. It’s that time of the year when the sun comes out and everyone is cheery, but also the craving for holidays begins! It seems to be everyone’s favourite topic of conversation. Somehow I think a trip here is unlikely, for the moment…
Expanding your pallet
It seems the hot new material of choice in sustainable design are these familiar objects, the pallet. Designers the world over are reinventing the simple object in all manner of ways including chairs, sculputure and even shelter.
There are apparently over 2 billion pallets in circulation around the world so, get creative and put them to use!
Here’s another example of an illustrator recreating the characters of old. But this time he’s attempted to capture what it would look like if we could study their original skeletons. Illustrator Michael Paulus explains the reasoning behind the series,
“I decided to take a select few of these popular characters and render their skeletal systems as I imagine they might resemble if...
Artist and illustrator Tom Rhodes has recently created a series of illustrations showing his ‘real life’ versions of classic games characters. These include a long list of characters including Earthworm Jim, Fox McCloud (from the Starfox series), Mario, Lara Croft (from Tomb Raider) and many more.

A series of poster designs by Job Wouters (aka Letman). His hand drawn style is amazing, stretching typography into the realms of graphic design, graffiti and illustration.
He recently made this video simply entitled ‘ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ’ with his 4 year old nephew, and the lettering was eventually used in a poster to promote a personal exhibition of his.

Valparaíso Rock
I first checked out this album because I was attracted to the album cover, which was designed by Alvaro Arteaga (who goes by the pseudonym ‘Alvarejo’ and is an AMAZING artist/illustrator who has even collaborated with Zune to produce a pair of signature artist series Zune Originals). The cd is the 2nd volume of compilations by Valparaíso Rock, made to promote various bands from the...

James Kuhn (aka hawhawjames on flickr) is a crazy artist who has redesigned the whole idea of self portraits with his recent series of ‘transformations’. Using just paint and his crazy imagination he’s managed to create some amazing (and sometimes scary!) results.
